Ray has finished his heartworm treatment and is looking for his furever home!!
We learned a lot about this sweet blind boy while he was in foster care and we hope sharing it will help him find his family! Even though Ray is blind, he is very independent. He is able to use his incredible sense of smell to get around and find what he is looking for, be it a treat, toy, or you.
This boy wants nothing more than to make you happy. Once you earn his trust, he will aim to please you at every opportunity! On top of that, he is very food motivated, which will make the adjustment to his new home and family that much easier. Car rides don’t even slow Ray down, he happily hops right into the backseat and settles in for the ride. He’s a great leash walker too! He knows his leash means adventure and he gets excited as soon as he smells you holding it.
Ray is a loving boy, who is huge fan of scratches and pets. He’ll use his nose to force his way under your arms or legs to get you to pet him! He loves being with his people and discovering all the wonderful things life has to offer. Like any young dog, he loves to chew too! He appreciates a good solid chew toy, like a Nylabone; but he is a big fan of stuffed toys too!
We would be happy to send Ray home with another dog to show him the way. He’ll just need a meet-n-greet first! He would excel in a home without kids or cats though. His perfect adopter would have experience with blind dogs as well! Interested in adopting Ray? Come meet him today!
Thank you so much to everyone who donated to Ray’s care and shared his story!! Thanks to your support, we were able to rescue this boy from a life of suffering on the streets of Kosovo and get him the love and care he so desperately needed.
While Ray is happy and healthy now, we still have many other pets in need. If you can, please consider donating to the Betsy Medical Fund to help with their care. We could always use more foster families too! They provide vital support for our most vulnerable pets while they wait for their furever homes.
The Story that Started it All
24 Hour Flight For Help – Blind Ray Needs You!
Ray was fighting for his life as a street dog in Kosovo. He had no place to call home, no family to love him and no one to care for him. He had to struggle every day, trying to find food and fight to stay alive. His struggle was especially difficult since Ray is blind. He was literally holding on to people’s legs, desperate for someone to help him, to feed him, to love him. After being picked up by rescuers, they determine Ray’s blindness was caused by bleach thrown in his face. Ray only knew a life of pain and sadness. Thanks to the Kosova Pet Rescue volunteers and the SPCA of Anne Arundel County, Ray was able to make the trip from the rough streets to a warm bed at the shelter in Annapolis.
Life got a little bit better for Ray, but he still has a very long road ahead. In addition to being blind and scared, Ray also has the worst case of heartworm we’ve ever seen. This sweet boy is in desperate need of a foster home where he can rest, recover and heal. Help us turn Ray’s story into one with a happy ending.
