It’s Academic! at Paws at the Mall

A new educational series is starting soon at Paws at the Mall!

It’s called “It’s Academic!” and it is a new educational series of presentations and discussions focused around understanding your pets. Admission to these classes are $10 and can be paid at the door. All proceeds are used to fund the care of the SPCA animals housed at the SPCA’s Paws at the Mall (located near Pottery Barn & Build-a-Bear Workshop).

10/21 – The Dog’s Mighty Nose

A dog uses its nose to interpret the world. In this session, Phyllis Saroff, CPDT, and her dog Cosmo, will demonstrate nose games for everyday fun, connection, and enrichment, including odor recognition and searching. Discussion will include what percent of a dog’s brain is devoted to scent, energy expenditure while searching, and what happens when we deprive our canine of searching/scenting opportunities.
